چکیده
To decrease development costs of aeronautical composite structures, industrials and academic researchers are turning to “virtual testing” methods. help achieve this objective, a new methodology has been developed at the Institut Clément Ader. It is based on complex loading test rig for technological specimens (more representative than usual level coupons) Discrete Ply Model (DPM), model allowing main damage occurring in structures be simulated. This research focuses combined CFRP plates after impact. In previous work, were experimentally impacted loaded impact VERTEX transfer boundary conditions numerical was validated using simple without damage. work presented here, DPM used simulate both tests. Numerical results experimental showed satisfactory correlation. The undertaken demonstrates that very little influence when tests performed larger scales coupons. therefore paramount use pyramidal approach design order avoid oversizing.

Low Velocity Impact Damage Prediction in Laminated Composite Plates
In this paper, a finite element model is presented for the transient analysis of low velocity impact, and the impact induced damage in the composite plate subjected to low velocity impact is studied. The failure criteria suggested by Choi and Chang and the Tsai-Hill failure criteria are used for the prediction of the damage in the composite plate; then the effect of various parameters on the im...
متن کاملSensitivity analysis of low-velocity impact response of laminated plates
We analyze the sensitivity to values of material parameters, layer thickness and impact speed of the plate deflection, the contact force between the impactor and the plate, the maximum length of a crack, and the energy dissipated during the low velocity impact at normal incidence of a clamped rectangular laminate by a rigid hemispherical-nosed cylinder. The laminate is comprised of layers of po...
متن کاملBuckling Behavior of Long Symmetrically Laminated Plates Subjected to Combined Loadings
A parametric study is presented of the buckling behavior of in nitely long, symmetrically laminated anisotropic plates subjected to combined loadings. The loading conditions considered are axial tension and compression, transverse tension and compression, and shear. Results obtained using a special-purpose analysis, well-suited for parametric studies, are presented for clamped and simply suppor...
متن کاملModeling Impact Damage in Laminated Composite Plates
The simulation of impact damage in laminated composite plates presents many challengesto modelers. Local failure takes the form of various fracture processes. For compositesthis is further complicated because the various modes can strongly interact with each other.Another modeling challenge particular to composite materials is that it is often necessaryto simulate the struct...
